Arrow Shots.

I shot an arrow Into the air, fell to the earth; I know not where. —Longfellow. Women never look natural when dressed np for an afternoon reception. An old, gray haired man cannot avoid looking funny playing in an orchestra. One of the evidences of a city is where the women do not all get clothes “like the other women have.” A man cannot help it, of course, but if he has a Are red beard he does not have to wear it full. How many men there are who undo what good they might do, by talking too much. Almost anything would taste good if cooked the way mushroons have to be cooked. No girls who are really old enough to be called old maids ever join an old maids’ club. Lots of people who come from the school bouse Are not attending school. There are some folks whom one just naturally dispises and can’t help it. Don’t abuse old people too much, for it will soon be your turn and you may be paid back. We can see no good that whiskers do in a man’s ears. Every day something Occurs that makes us believe still less of what we hear. The loafing habit runs in families. If the father is a loafer, he will likely have children who will loaf. A man seems to be as vain of nothing as of going through the world moderately successful without any education.

Being old maids and old bachelors is hereditary. It is strange that you see a good many more men who are loafers than women, or is it because you notice it more? Some people are so insignificant that nobody listens when they talk. Some men would be all right if they did not talk. If you are not a good mimic, don’t try it. Fads go in neighborhoods. We protest that the letter “y” is overworked in girl’s names. Ever notice how many useless things you carry around in your pockets ? In the spring we are just as anxious to have the storm windows out as we are to have them in in the fall. Some men are principally useful to shake hands with all the preachers who come to town.
