Rensselaer Journal, Volume 11, Number 52, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 5 June 1902 — Charlie Complimented. [ARTICLE]
Charlie Complimented.
Charlie Fox, private of Company M., and the only soldier at the recent state encampment who got favorable mention in the Indianapolis papers, thinks he has been highly complimented, as the following letter, which Charlie received through the mail the other day, will show: Columbia City, Ind., May 29 1902. Mr. Chas. Fox, Rensselaer, Ind. Dear Sir —Allow me to thank you for the service you rendered my battalion while in camp. I feel as though it is my duty to commend you very highly for the loyalty you showed while on guard while the Governor was eating. I have been honored by a letter from the Governor thanking me for the way my men acted and I feel it my duty in turn to thank the men who were under me and assisted in bringing about such grand and glorious results, for I feel that it was due to them as much as it was to me. Allow me again to thank you and I hope that I may have the pleasure of seeing you in camp next year. Yours respectfully, Major Harrison.
