Great Britain’s Drink Bill.
The London Times publishes a letter from the Rev. Dawson Burns, D. D., showing the amount expended for alcoholic liquors by the people of Great Britain in 1901, and comparing this amount with the like expenditure for the year 1900. According to Dr. Burns, who has long occupied a position as a standard authority in statistics pertaining to the liquor traffic, the amount expended for drink in 1901 was £158,154,605, a decrease of £2,737,113 from the expense of 1900
