Things Booming at the Kankakee.

Thayer, Water Valley and Shelby, the little towns on the Kankakee, are booming and enjoying their full share of prosperity. Thayer is to have a pickle factory, the lumber already being on the ground for the buildings. Just across the river at Water Valley, at the Monon tank, the derrick for the first of the oil wells to be drilled has been erected, and drilling, If not already begun, will commence in a few days. The ThayerShelby News will make its appearance this week. It will be published by the Journal editor and John Bowie, of Thayer, the latter being the editor. The paper will be published at the Journal office. It will be devoted to the Interests of Thayer, Water Valley and Shelby.
