Political Notes.

The Republicans of Newton county will hold their county convention June 10th, So far not a single person has announced himself as a candidate ' for office. Wm. Darroch, of Kentland, will be the Democratic nominee for judge of this circuit. —o—- . The Brook Reporter and the Kentland Enterprise are still having spasms over the judgeship matterand demand a new convention. Better ring off now, boys, and be good. You have played the baby act long enough. The Newton county court house schemers received a severe back set in their efforts to secure the judgeship at the Brook convention last week, when Ohas. W. Hanley reseived the nomination for judge of that circuit of acclamation. The Northern portion of Newton was well represented at the convention and prosecutor Sink, of Rose Lawn, was nominated. The Kentland fellows will now put forth Darroch in the hope that they can control enough votes from the southern end of Newton to elect him and thus secure the long looked for opportunity to build a new court house at Kentland and thus settle the removal Question for years to come. Whether they can control enough votes for this purpose, is a question that will be determined at the polls next November, but we question their ability to accomplish their designs in this way. The Democratic congressional convention of the Tenth district will be held in Monticello next month. So far there are no avowed candidates.
