Couldn’t Cure or Kill.
Dr. Garth, physician and versifier, who lived in the time of Addison, when lingering late over his wine one night was asked by Richard Steele if his patients would not need him. The doctor had the honesty to reply that it did not matter in the least whether he saw them that night or next day, for nine had such bad constitutions that no physician could cure them, while the remainder had such good ones that all the doctors in the world could not kill them.
