Blackford.

Mrs Scott visited her daughter, Mrs. Holmes, in South America, last Saturday and Sunday Mrs. E. C. and Mrs. G. B. Switzer and children returned from Watseka, 111., last Tuesday. Some miscreant or idiot started a fire last Friday in the southwest corner of Mrs. Switzer’s land. All the fence on the south side was burned. By hard fighting the fire was put out before the house and other buildings were destroyed. If the heavy wind had

been from the north instead of from the west the Dunkard church and Raskey’s house and a number of other buildings would have been destroyed. A. McCoy and daughter Orma, of Kniman, spent Sunday with their uncle and aunt here. Mrs. Rosa Nuss and her sister-in-law visited Mrs. Switzer last Friday and helped to fight the fire.
