CORRESPONDENCE.
Mrs. Gundy spent a few days last and this week with her parents at Wheatfield. Joe Kight, of Thayer, was calling on friends and relatives in town Saturday. > A. E. Rowland closed his school in Colfax township, Newton county, last week and returned to his home at Goodland last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Felix R. Erwin returned from their weddiug trip at Chicago last Saturday evening and have gone to housekeeping. Rev. A, C. Abbett is visiting friends and relatives in town a few days this week. Mrs. John Carder has about recovered from a two weeks’ spell of sickness with inflammation of the glands of the neck. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Arnold and baby, of Brook, were the guests of his mother, Mrs. Casey and other relatives a few days this week. Miss Idel Street, of White county, opened a six weeks’ term of subscription school, with fourteen pupils enrolled, last Monday morning. On account of quarterly meeting held at Knlman last Sunday there was no preaching at the M. E. church at this place. Isaac Kight and wife were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kight, at Thayer, last Sunday. The Misses McLaughlin, of Goodland, closed their schools near Rose Lawn last week and returned home Tuesday. Mrs. Scott Harrington and children, of DeMotte, spent Sunday with her parents, Thos. Fry and wife. Her sisters, Mrs. Fannie Morgan and Maud Fry, accompanied her home for a few days* visit. Mrs. Lambert and daughter Mrs. Raynor, and Mrs. Geo. Marshall and sister Blanche Cleaver, all went to Chicago last Sunday to visit Mrs. Minnie Cleaver, at the Lakeside Hospital. They report her as getting along very well.
