HANLEY FOR JUDGE.
Nominated by Acclamation at tte Judicial Convention. Charles W. Hanley, of was nominated for Judge ofthe3*tb judicial circuit by acclamation at the Judicial convention at Brook Im* Thursday. The people of Brook gave the visiting delegates a rousing reception an* had the band out to grebt them wheat they arrived. Jasper county was represented by its full number of delegates, while* Newton was represented by four townships—Lincoln, Beaver, Colfax and Lake. The convention met in Warner 1 * hall at 2 o’clock, and was called to order by Chairman Warner, of Jasper county, who was made permanent chairman of the meeting. J. J. Fry. of Newton county, was elected secretary of the meeting. I|j a nice little speech, Geo. P, Meyers, of Knitnan, placed in nomination Charles W. Hanley forjudge. No other name being presented to the convention he was nominated by acclamation. For prosecuting attorney two candidates from Newton county were placed before the convention—Joh* D. Sink, of Rose Lawn, anc R. O. Graves, of Morocco. Sink was nominated by the fraction of five tenthsofa vote. Jasper divided her vote equally between the two candidat's, giving each one 10.5 votes. Newton gave 1.8 votes for Sink and 1 3 for Graves, which matte the vote stand 12 2 votes for Sink and It 8 for Graves. The four townships of Newton county represented at the convention were entitled to nearly double the vote cast, tne error occurring in computing the vote. The greatest harmony prevailed throughout the convention and no dissatisfaction was expressed at the result.
