State Statistician Johnson is inaugurating a new method to secure early spring statistics from the various counties of the state, He has sent blank reports to men in all the townships of the various counties, and they are expected to fill them out for the months of April, May and June, showing the condition and acreage of wheat, oats, corn, clover, timothy, potatoes, vegetables, paelons, tomatoes, cherries, peaches, plums, pears, apples and berries at the time the reports are made. Mr. Johnson believes that the state bureau will thus be enabled to more thoroughly know the condition of all crops in the state during the spring, and as the men that make the reports are expected to note the effect of heavy rains, cold weather, dry weather or any other special climatic conditions upon the planting or sowing of grain, or upon the condition of the same while growing, advance reports can be sent odt from the state office.
