Fair Oakn. .Our schools have closed for the summer vacation. Mrs. Dr. Proudly and son Charlie spent last week with friends and relatives in Chi cago. and Mrs. R. O, Graves, of Morocco, spent a few days last week with friends and relatives in town Mrs. Littlefield has just received a fine new litie of sprihg millinery. Call and see it. Mrs. C. D. Norman, of Rensselaer; visited her mpther and other relatives in town last Sunday. A npmb?r of Rose Lawnites attended the Edster supper last Saturday evening. *i' Several <>f the boys from here attended Odd Fellow’s lojdge at Mt Ayr last Saturday night. Easter Sunday was ushered in with quite a heavy snow stornj, but by noon i|| had about all disappeared] Mrs. P; \V. Nelson and daughter Irene, spent a sOuple of days this week with relatives in Chicago. ’yiT • Mrs Ed. Kessler visited friends and relatives at DeMolte from Saturday until Monday. Mrs. John Mjindon. and children, of Mpmehce, 111., are visiting her parents here this week. Mr. and Mrs Olean Oviatt, of South Bend, visited her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fry, a few days last week; Time to clean house and make 1 garden. Mrs. Cottingham and Mrs Bringle, who have been at the Lakeside hospital in Chicago for the past two weeks, report that they are both fast recovering and expect to be well enough to return home in about a week. All of which their many friends will be glad to hear. The Easter supper given*by the ladies of the Christian church at the school house last Saturday evening was well attended and a success in every way. A number of sewed articles were sold at good prices. Receipts about $27. Union Easter exercises were held at the M. E. church last Sunday evening and attended by a large and interested audience The decorations were beautiful and tastefully ar-ranged-appropriate to the occasion. A good piogratn was well rendered, interspersed with music by the choir.

Miss Pearl McGee, of Rensselaer, is visiting at home this week. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jacks spent Sunday p. m. with Mr and Mrs. F. M. Pollard. Thos. Ward and family left for Rantoul. 111., Tuesday. Dr. Henderson, the pill man, was a business visitor at Sharon Monday. Mrs Pennright spent Saturday at Mrs. Chas Daley’s. , Dick Blummershine, of Lafayette, was a business visitor at Sharon last week. Miss Rosa McGee will return from Whitely county today. The Sunday school had an election Sunday, With the following result: Marion I. Adams superintendent; Chas Gish, assistant superintendent; Geo. Slaughter, secretary; Jas. H Toops, treasurer; Walter Desbrow, chorister• Mary Adams, organist. Let us all turn out and help the good work along with our presence. Geo. Lorentz is assisting Wm. Jacks in his carpenter work this week. Mr Danford, of Rensselaer, has moved onto the Jas. Irwin farm. School -will be out Friday at Slaughter and the following Tuesday school will- close at Lawndale. It is stated on good authority that patrons of Slaughter school will give the annual banquet to the teachers and pupils making it the 10th annual banquet. ’ T. M. Hibler is spending the week on his farm at the home of D. Art Whitney. Dave Waymire is putting a new roof on his house. Tony Nissius had qqjte a painful experience with a rifle last week. The cartridge exploded prematurely and being of a 44 calibre it burjted the gun, severely burning Toney’s f.a anr eyes. Dr. Pothubje, of jßemngton, is attending him.

Ben Clouse is here this week repairing wells. A. E. Abersoll, who moved here from Pontiac, 111., moved again Thursday to five miles south of Rensselaer.
