Fair Oaks.
C. P. Fry spent Sunday with friends and relatives at DeMotte. C. T. Otis, of Chicago, is here on business this week. Chas. Proudly, who has been sick for some time past, is improving quite rapidly. Anna Hockbaum, of Chicago, is visiting her uncle Win, Hayes and other relatives. Mr. DeKoker, of DeMotte, was the guest of Lulu Clifton last Sunday. Lulu Eberhart is visiting her parents at Reynolds. Born—Saturday, Feb. 15th, to Mr. and Mrs. N. A. McKay, an 8 pound son; mother and child doing well. Robt. Harmon, of Brookston, was calling on friends in town Monday and left next day for Rose Lawn on business. / Wm Burns killed one of the largest wolves ever seen in this county, on the Otis rauch Thursday of last week. Chalmers Pry took a jolly sleigh ride party of young folks to the home of Mr! Baxter on the Otis ranch Wednesday evening of last week, where they spent the time in social conversation and light refreshments. The many friends of Mrs. Winslow will be glad to learn that she is getting along nicely and will be able to return home in about two weeks. Samuel Howe, who has been sick at his home three miles east of Fair Oaks for the past seven weeks with organic heart disease, died last Sunday night at 12:30 o’clock. His age was a little more than 60 years. The funeral was held at Rensselaer on Wednesday at 10 a. m. A more extended account will be found elsewhere in this paper. Operator Zimmerman has resumed duty at the depot after a weeks’ vacation on account of sickness, with, his parents at Rensselaer. J. E Hollon filled his place during his absence. Don’t forget the chicken and ice cream supper at the school house Saturday evening of this week, Feb 22nd. Previous to the supper. Rev. Alden will give a free literary entertainment. Everybody come and help to make this one of the most successful occasions of the kind yet held. Don’t forget the date.
