The present perfected system of publicity is far more essential to 20th centuary methods than was the dearth of advertisieg in former years. Of course it seems that there was nothing really essential to old line commercial success except the mere existence of a firm and their little two inch space in a poorly printed newspaper. One can easily see that there are as many forms of success as advertising. It has been shown conclusively that any kind of business, to be sue eessful today, must advertise and do it right. One will not read many ads. of successful firms without being struck with the similiarities of the underlying reason for success. The successful advertiser of today handles his copy in the same manner a popular newspaper is bandied by its editors, keeping abreast of the times, noting all current events, knowing fully well that the reading public is quickly and effectively attracted by up-to-the-second-methods. Be concise, clear, always at it; make youractions support your “sayings” on paper; never permit the public to lose confidence in you; last but not least let your character shine in its true form. Sam Jones atone time gave the following advice: “I want you, my sinners, to kiss and get married, and then devote your time to morality and money making. Then let y<>ur homes be provided with piety, pots, kettles, brooms, brushes, benevolence, bread, charity, hope, faith, crackers, flour, affection, salt, sincerity, onions, intregity, virtue, bacon and wisdom. Have nil these things on hand and happiness will ever be with you. Do not drink anything intoxicating, eat moderately, go about your business after dinner, chat after tea, kiss after a quarrel and all the bliss this world can offer will be yours until a grave closes over you and your spirit is borne to a higher and happier world.
