Independent Jurymen.
A jury in Prince Edward Island seems to be a pretty independent body, according to a story published recently in one of the local papers. The Incident occurred during the trial of a case for the assessment of damages, which was up before the high sheriff of the county. The case was originally very simple, but owing to the peculiar tactics employed on both sides was soon transformed Into an exceedingly complicated and mystifying problem. After listening for many weary hours to the haranguing of counsel and the examination of witnesses, one old juryman finally got up in disgust and left the room, with the spirited exclamatlon, "To with it,” and all the others followed him out. The court, It Is said, thereupon decided that, since the jury had disagreed, no damages could be assessed.
