FOURTEEN BOXERS EXECUTED.
Punishment Is Meted Out to a Batch of Chinamen. Tacoma telegram: Word has Just been received through the oriental malls that Capt. Chou, commander of the Chou Chou garrison, and thirteen others who participated In the Boxer massacres at Hang Chow, China, liave been put to death by the sword. A great diplomatic victory is claimed for Japan over Russia in regard to Korean concessions. Japan has received a concession at Chapok Po, near Masampo, for which Russia was prepared to put up a fight. Several months ago Russian men of war landed marines at Masampo. A survey was made of 750 acres of land and an absolute title, or long lease, demanded from the Korean government. Russia’s attempts to thus get a foothold in Korea have been defeated. Japanese diplomacy exerted at Seoul, not only prevented a compliance with Russia's request, but secured a deed of the disputed territory to the Japanese government.
