DEATH OF A FORMER CITIZEN.
Hon. F. C. Nowels Dies at LaJunta, Colo. Hon. Ezra C. Nowels. son of David Nowels, of Rensselaer, and a former resident of this city, died suddenly at La Junta, 001., last. Sunday, at the age of 67 years. The remains were taken to his home at Lamar, Uolo., at whioh place the funeral took place Monday. Mr. Nowels was engaged in the practice of law and was at La Junta on business pertaining to liiß profession. Tlie cause of his death was appendicitis. His brother David B. Nowels, was at his side when lie died. Deoeased was the oldest surviving son of Mr. and Mrs. David Nowels, of Rensselaer, who survive him. He also leaves a wife and six children, three brothers, Wm. R. and 0. D., of Rensselaer, and David 8., of Lamar, 001., and two sisters, Mrs. R H.Grow and Mrs. Robert Randle, of Rensselaer. In 1878 lie was elected auditor of Jasper county on the Democratic ticket. He was appointed receiver of public money at-the government land ofHce in Colorado by President Cleveland, and later served as county judgo at Lamar. Since then he has been engaged in the practice of law.
