THOSE PAVING BRICK.
Commissioners and 1 Councilmen are Liable to Have a Clash Over Street Improvement. The brick r Red around the public square <to be used in paving the streets have been the subject of con siderable discussion the past week. The commissioners have not been satisfied that the brick are of the best quality and have threatened to protest against the use of them. As a result of the discussion the manufacturer of the brick at Brazil Invited the commissioners and the council to take a trip to Brazil at the manufacturer’s expense and thoroughly' inspect the factory and the brick made there to see if the brick unloaded at Rensselaer is up to what the contract calls for. No other plants were visited. His invitation was accepted and the commissioners and members of the city council made the trip The councilmen express themselves satisfied with the brick and will in struct the contractors to go ahead with the work, but will employ an inspector to inspect every brick used and throw out the bad ones The commissioners are not so well satisfied, but just what further steps they will take in the matter is not known.
