Local and Personal Notes. * Miss Mary Bates is visiting in Ladoga. J. C. Porter spent the Fourth iij, Delphi. Anson Chupp is taking a two weeks’ vacation. Charles Macklinburg has resigned his clerkship at Eger’s grocery. Hon. R. S. Dwiggins, of JacksonO., has been here on business. Michael Cover has gone to Okla horna, to participate in the rush for claims. Miss Elizabeth Spaulding visited with relatiees at Greencastle last week. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Parker Sunday, but only lived a few hours. Jim Randle, who has been working in Indianapolis, is home for a few days’ visit. The Lafayette Elks will have charge of the carvival in that city this year. Mrs. W. L. Loveland and sons, of Evanston, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Ross. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes, of Delphi, were the guests of M. P. Warner and family the Fourth. “Dode” George has resigned his position as clerk in a store at Delphi and returned home. Grandmother Ohilcote left for Eckford, Mich., Monday, where she will remain for some time. Albert Overton has just recovered from a bad attack of the quinsy, which came near proving fatal. Frank Randle has gone to Harvey, 111., to clerk in Harry Kessinger’s newly acquired grocery store. . Mr. and Mrs. 8. R. Clark, df West Lafayette, were the guests of Henry Wood and family Sunday. Bert Campbell and Miss Nellie Nagle were united in marriage by Elder D. T. Halstead, of Rensselaer. Mrs. Mary Fendig and daughter Rebecca are the guests of 8. Fendig and family at Wheatfleld. Miss Minnie Thomas, who has been the guest of her mother, Mrs. Mary A. Thomas, has returned to Wabash. Herbert Sorrell has resigned his position at Eiglesbach’s meat market and will probably move to Albany. Ed. Peacock has resigned his position at Laßue’s store. He has not yet decided upon his future plans. Mrs. W. B. Brown and children, of Terre Haute, are the guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Yeoman. Roy Peacock was on duty at the Monon sink hole near Cedar Lake three days and night* as telegrapher. Miss Fern Nelson, who is now stationed at Fowler, as telephone operator, visited her parents here last week. Roy Peacock is again assisting Agent Beam at the depot, after serving extra as telegrapher at Shelby for some weeks. Mrs. Emma Hagin and daughter, of Minneapolis, Minn., are the guests of Mrs. Hagin’s sister, Mrs. W. F. Powers. Many are taking advantage of our voting contest. The advertisement is crowded out of this issue but will appear again. Rev. 8. E. Sines has resigned his position with Judy & Wood and is preparing to take a few weeks’ vacation at his old home. Mrs. Alfred McCoy and grandson, Tayler McCoy, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Rinehart and attending the exposition at Buffalo. W. O. Schanlaub and sister Blanche attended the wedding of Miss Maude Kepner and Tom J. Manley at Bheldon, 111., yesterday.
