Schwier, June 14, *Wheatfield, pt nese 25-32-6, too It is stated that persons interested in oil are endeavoring to secure options on Kankakee marsh land. A number of Chicago men who are inter ested in a hunting and fishing club at Davis station have decided to prospect for oil and gas on their property and one derrick has already been erected. It is understood that Joseph Leiter, the young Chicago man who became celebrated some time since in a big wheat deal, is one ol the chief promoters in the enterprise. There seems to be an idea among some that oil or gas and perhaps both will be discovered in the Kankaaee district.
