WISE WORDS.
The way to be comfortable Is to make others so; the way to make others so is to appear to love them; the way to love them Is to love them In reality. There are many foolish things done by wise persons, one of which Is warning stubborn persons against those by whom they are being gulled. Do not talk about your neighbor’s debts unless you intend to pay them, nor about your brother’s fallings unless In love you can remedy them. There never was a day that did hot bring its own opportunity for doing good, that never could have neen done before, and never be again. Leave a little unsaid, a little to be explored In your mental attitudes toward men if you would be accounted interesting. Failure after long perseverance Is much grander than never to have a striving good enough to be called a failure. It Is not necessary for all men to be great in action. The greatest and sublimest power Is often simple patience. He who has resolved to conquer or die Is seldom conquered; such noble despair perishes with difficulty. Surmounted difficulties not only teach, but hearten us in our future struggles. The same refinement which brings us new pleasures exposes us to new pains. If you wish your merit to be known acknowledge that of other people. There is a great difference between a stiff will and a hard heart. What the dew is to the flower gentle words are to the soul. Change lays not her hand upon truth.
