With a Woman in Command.
From the San Francisco Call: The new schooner W. J. Patterson arrived from Grays harbor Friday evening with the wife of the captain in charge. When the schooner was three days out from Grays harbor Capt. Weitkunat was taken dangerously ill and had to take to his bed. The first and second mates were not good navigators, but Mrs. Weitkunat had studied with her husband and can take an observation with the best seaman afloat. She took command of the big schooner, and between attending on her sick husband and navigating the ship she had a lively time.
