COL. DEHART APPOINTED.
He Wifi Occupy the Circuit Court Bench by Order of the Governor. Last Saturday Col. Richard P. DeHart, of Lafayette, was appointed judge of the Tippecanoe circuit court, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Judge Taylor. The Lafayette Courier makes the following comments on the appointment: The appointment of Colonel DeHart was a foregone conclusion and gives great satisfaction to the members of the bar and to his thousands of friends in this and all parts of the state. Governor Durbin was not long in making up his mind as to who should have the court over which the lamented Judge Taylor presided. Colonel DeHart has been on the bench since the beginning of Colonel Taylor’s illness and has discharged the duties of the office wisely and carefully. He had Ino opposition when it became known that he was a candidate for the place. There are few better known lawyers in the state than Richard P. DeHart and it is with pleasure that The Courier salutes him as Judge DeHart.
