Commissioners’ Court.
The county commisioners met in regular session Monday, and closed the business of the term Tuesday afternoon. A contract was awarded to the Newcastle Bridge Co. for a nteel bridge to be constructed across Ctrpenteis Creek, in Carpenter township, at $1097. G. P. N. Saddler was appointed engineer to prepare planfc and specifications for two bridges in Marion township, and one each in Walker, Jordan and Newton. The petition of Henry F. Feldman for a highway in Keener township was dismissed, on the ground that the highway would not be of public utility. < L. Strong, John Martindale and Andrew Yeoman were appointed viewers on a proposed highway in Union and Barkley townshipspetitioned for by John N. Price, The contract for bituminous coal for the county was awarded to the Parke County Coal Co. at $2.60 per ton for mine run delivered at boilerhouse. Coen & Brady were awarded the contract for hard coal at $7.40 per ton delivered. Ella E Hawkins, of Remington, was granted a scholarshipat Purdue University, to take effect when the second vacancy from this county shall occur.
