City Council.
The city council met in regular session Monday evening, with all members present. A petition was presented by John R. Vanatta et al for the improvement of Cullen street from Washmgfcon to Grace street. The same was ieferred to the street committee. This is the remainder of the unimproved portion of this street, which is now the best and prettiest street in the city and the remainder of the street is almost certain to be improved, as it is understood that a majority of the property owners are favorable to the improvement. The mayor was anthorized to execute a new contract with the Standard Oil Co. for oil at the following prices: Capital cylinder oil, 30 cents per gallon; Renown engine oil, 18 cents per gallon; waste, 6 cents per pound. The eight members of the fire company present at the Peacock fire were allowed f 2.50 each. W. W. Reeye petitioned for a tile drain on Elza street, which was referred to the sewer committee. The fire company was again discussed, which resulted in no action. The following bills were allowed: James C.
