Rensselaer Gazette, Volume 3, Number 51, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 11 April 1860 — Auditor of State. [ARTICLE]
Auditor of State.
The following notice of Mr. Lange, our candidate for Auditor of State, is from the Cincinnati Gazette: “He is a German, of fine natural abilities improved by the best education of a great German University. He is a thorough scholar, and a most genial and excellent man. His devotion to the cause of freedom he does not need to prove at this day. Years ago, in his native “land, when in the vigor of youth, he spent five years in jail for his Republican opinions, and only secured his release on condition of leaving his home forever. The condition, if a hard one then, has long been lost in a devoted and warm affection for his adopted country, where he has spent the best part of life, and been honored many times with the confidence of his fellow-citizens. He has proved his qualifications by the test of trial, and the unanimity with which his country and district have twice urged hie nomination by the State Convention, prove that those who have witnessed the trial closest are surest of his capacity. Mr. Lango is moreover an indefati. gablo worker.
