Tiie New York papers, since Pryor’s denunciation of Bennett,are inquiring: “How often has Bennett been whipped!” The Times thus answers tiie question: Bennett has been flogged only seven times, as the subjoined list shows: Oct. G, 1835, Dr. L. P. Townsend flogged him in Wail street. Jan. 20, 1833, James Watson Webb flogged him in Wall street. May 9, 1837. James Watson Webb flogged him a second time in Wall street. Nov. 17, 1837, T. S. Hamblin and other* flogged him in tiie Herald office. Feb. 8, 1838, J. W. Hale flogged htra in Wall street. Jan 29, 1846, J. YV. Clasoa flogged him | in Nassau street. Nov. 9, 1359, John Graham flogged him in Broadway. Justice to the notorious editor of the Her. aid demands that any statement of the number of bin scourgings should be correct. Give the devil his due.
