Richmond, Dec. 7. Gov. Wise laid before the Legislature today a letter from the Gov. of Ohio, in reply to one of his. Governor Chase says Ohio will fulfill every constitutional obligation to other members of the Union, but cannet concent to the invasioil of her territory by armed men, even for the purpose of pursuing and arresting fugitives from justice. The Legislature unanimously passed a resolution approving of the sentence of Cook and the other prisoners, and refusing interference. Herald says that a M. Warner of Roling Prairie, who has long been in poor health, got out of bed last week while his wife wlas getting breakfast, and cut his throat with a razor. He inflicted six gashes, one of which severed the jugular vein. No hopes of his recovery are* entertained. It was supposed that his long sickness had so worked upon his mind ns to craze him.
Seymour Times says that a gang of scoundrels in Scott county have busied them selves for some time past in obstructing the track of the Jeffersonville railroad' and lately widened the track near Vienna and threw off a freight train, damaging several cars badly. Resentment for stock killed by the cars is thought to be the cause of their conduct. The Times thinks the railroad company would make money by paying promptly for the stock they kill. of Missouri, who has already made himself notorious in Congress, for a "green hand,” passed through this city last week. He is described as an excellent specimen of the Border Ruffians—disgusting in his conversation and repulsive in his personal appearance. His course in Congress, so far, fully coincides with this description of him. He is a Democrat of the John Candle box Calhoun school.— lnd. State Journal.
