Chances of Living.

[From the New Yi-rk Evenifcg Poat,

The Widgers and Gypsy Psalmists, and Prewst’rs and seventh daughters of seventh daughters, will perhaps think us trenching upon their grounds if we presume to make predictions as to the length of life of our readers. Yet, even at the risk of offending these excellent ladies, we here inform any curious person how long he may live—our predictions being based upon the “Expectation of Life Column” of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York for the fifteen years ending the first of February. 1858. Those wishing to pay us the usual astrologist's fee for this information will please to remit to the office of this paper. Assuming, then, that you are ten years of age, you may be assured that out of each one hundred and thirty-five persons of the same age, including yourself, one will die before a year has passed. If this dv ing individual be not yourself, you have a good prospect of living until you are fify-nine years and six mouths old. At twenty years old, one out of every one hundred and thirty-four persons dies every year, and it you are not that | one you stand a chance to be about sixtytwo years and nine months old. If you are twenty-three years old you may have a reasonable hope of living until you are sixtythree. At twenty-five, your prospects are fair for seeing your sixty-fourth year. At thirty, you may hope for sixty-six; at thirtyfive, sixty-seven; at forty, for sixty-eight; at forty-five, for seventy; at fifty, for seventyone years and a half; at fifty-five, for Eeven'y-three; at sixty, for seventy-four and a quarter; at seventy, for seventy-eight and three-quarters; at seventy-nine, for eighty-four; at eighty-nine, for ninety-one years old; and if you are at this day ninetynine years old, you may expect to be called from tin's earth in just six months. These are the results based upon the experionce of an extensive Life Insurance ; Company, and may briefly be summed up as follows: that you will live until you die, be I the same sooner or later..
