Mr. Jos. Blood, of Lawrence, elected temporary chairman. As that gentleman was absent, from sickness at the moment. Mr Kingman, of Brown county, an the Republican was elected. Mr. Martin, editor of the Atchison Champion, was elected clerk. "The Convention then went into the election of permanent officers, when J. M. Winchell, of Osage, was elected President of the Convention over his Democratic opponent. The vote stood 32 for Winchell, and 13 for Barton.
