A Bold Voice from the Extreme South.
The Savannah (Ga.) Republican, in a late article on the next Presidential contest, speaks thus sensibly: “So far as we are concerned, our position in reference to the next Presidential election. is simply this: We think the Democratic party, after a full and satisfactory trial, has abused every trust that has been committed to its hands; has got the country into trouble and kept it there; has been the grand mover in arraying one section against another, and has forleited all claims to the respect and confidence of the people. We believe the overthrow of such a party the highest duty owed by the freemen of this country to their government and the cause of constitutional liberty. “To that end we are willing to cast our vote for any sound, patriotic statesmen for President and Vice President, of whatever name, whose past history affords a guarantee ot reform, and especially of opposition to all the destructive elements that are now seeking to undermine tne government and bring she Constitution into contempt. In this noble object, we shall gladly unite with Whigs, Democrats, Republicans, and men of every name, who, irrespective of past associations, are willing to come forward and rescue their country from impending danger. We shall object to the co-operation of no man, so we are sure of electing those upon whom the country may rely with an assurance of an honest, efficient and faithful administration of its affairs.”
