Beight and Fitch.
I he false positi.n of these two bogus Senators ' is now again jittractffcg the attention of the press of the country, and the press.oi Indiana iii particular. The matter is now before the Legislature of Indiana, and the appearance now is that it will engrojs too much of the attention ojf that body. We have always contended that thi* j pretended election of Bright and' Fitch to repre- ■ sent the State of Indiana in the Vnited States' Senate was a gross outrage on the State, but to ' keep up a continual wrangle about the matter, tp the exclusion of other important legislation, will not, in.our opinilriTf.better it. Let the Legislai-tun-oust the bogus Senators, so far as they can, at once, if they intend to do it all, and elect two good men to their places and be done with it, thus 1 throwing the responsibility of keeping the tisurpirrs in office upon the United States Senate. The State of Indiana has ’ittlv to hope from that body, Hithough it is reported that Douglas has said that “Bright and Bitch must come down.” Should this assertion be madegood, Indiana and the nation would have cause to .rejoice. The State Senate, last Wednesday, adopted a resolution by a vote of 215 to 22, that Bright ; »nd Fitch were not legally elected to the United ! State* Senate, and on Friday the House adopted a similar resolution’by a vote of 50 to 4(5. Mr. Turner, our Senator, voted in the affirmative; but wo regret to add that our Representative, Mr. Sayder, voted in th* negative.
