SHADE-TREE MEETING

Rensselaer, Nov. 6, 1858. j Pursuant to call in last week’s paper, the , citizens of R- nsselaer met in the Auditor’s office for the purpose of adopting measures j for incorporating Rensselaer, and otherwise ■ improving the sami. On motion, Presly Dunlap was called to the chair, and A. Thompson eppointed Secretary. Judge R. 11. Milroy was called out. and In a few appropriate remarks stated the ob- ! -je<-t of the meeting, and urged the necessity | o' prompt action in improving the condition of our town.

A committee of three, composed of R. H. Milroy, W. J. Wright and John Thompson, was appointed with power to make survey and plat of Rensselaer, and to fix boundaries to the same, preliminary to making it an incorporated town, Also, the same committee to have power to make 5 the following proposition to the County Commissioners at their next session, viz: That if they will furnish lumber enough to inclose the Public Square, the citizens of Rensselaer will construct the same without cost to the county. A subscription was also started to defray the necessary expenses of the above committee. The motion for the committee to arrange for planting the Public Square with shade trees this fall was, after being fully discussed, postponed till we can have the Puplic Square inclosed, or arrangements made for the same.
