The Administration has been defeated in every State where elections were held last Tuesday., The people have placed the seal of condemnation on Buchanan and all his supporters. Leeomptonism is dead. The funeral obsequies were celebrated last Tuesday. “Dust to dust, ashes to ashes.” The news fs too meagre to give anything like correct figures; but almost from every county heard from in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and lowa, the Republicans have largely gained on the vote of 1856. Pennsylvania, it is thought, will go 40,000 for the Anti-Lecompton ticket. It isbelieved that every Lecompton candidate for Congress has been defeated. The Keystone State repudiates her once favored and beloved son. This Lecompton transgression is too much to submit to. Ohio comes bravely to the mark. It is supposed that the State ticket is elected by 10,000 majority. Fifteen, at least, out of twenty-three Congressmen, are. elected on the Anti-Lecompton ticket. Hamilton County, the stronghold of Democracy, has been redeemed, and one of the two Congressmen is Republican. Indianaj-nobly wheels into line with the other free States. It is-believed that our State ticket wrll be elected by 10,000 majority, and we have strong hopes that every Lecompton candidate for Congress, except English, is defeated and condemned, and he, if electecTat all, will be by a very small majority. The Legislature will be Anti-Le-compton. lowa has been heard from, but from few counties; but the returns, so far, indicate that the Republican ticket is elected by about 5,000 majority. Glory enough for one day. Let the shouts of freemen reverberate from hill-top to hilltop, and o’er plain—from the east to tffo west, and the west to the east. Freedom has again taken another step in advance, and corruption and misrule are tottering to decay.
