Cleaning Out a stove.

A gentleman residin'! in Peterspurg, Virginia, essayed to rid his stove oil' sout. by plhcing a small quantity of gunpowder on thie inside, ami closing the stove-door, lighted a Tew shavings under the grate, having been informed by some wag, who deserves hanging, that such was* a ready andj effective' mode, of accomplishing the object. Upon the explosion of the powder, the bolts which held the stove-plates together were torn asunder, ami the various pieces scattered a.bout the apa r-tment—the shock also causing about one-half of the celling in the room to tumble on the floor. The gether with a servant, who remained in the room, fortunately escaped uniiijurod, nearly frightened out ot' their wits.
