Babcock visited relatives in Lafayette the first of the week. Mrs. Horace Henkle of Noblesville, is visiting Rensselaer relatives.

George Meyers, the real estate agent of Kniman, was in the city Saturday. John Ulery of Brook ex-sheriff of Newton county was in the city Tuesday. Mrs. Chas. McColly of Chicago Heights, is visiting relatives in the city. Patronize home industries by smoking cigars manufactured in Rensselaer. *Mrs. Gardner Haskell, of Mt. Ayr, spent Tuesday with relatives in the city.

Bert Bartoo and wife were in attendance at a wedding in Chicago Wednesday. Judge E. P. Hammond and wife visited with William Austin and wife last Sunday. D. E. Hollister and wife returned the first of the week from a visit at Decatur, 111. Frank Foltz and wife visited the latter’s relatives in Benton county the first of the week. Chas. Fisher and George Shafer, of Morocco, were in the city Saturday, on business. John Schanlaub is making some improvements to his dwelling house on Clark street. Mr. Bowie, insurance man of Morocco, was in the city the fore part of the week on business. Jesse Roberts, well known in Rensselaer, is spoken of as a candidate for congress on the Democratic ticket in one of the Chicago districts. He was at one time a ttudent in the office of Thompson Bros.
