The City Council.
The City Council met Monday nigh Lin regular sessions Their most important work was the election of a member of the city school board, for the term of three years, to succeed E. L. Clark, whose term had expired. The candidates were Wallace Robinson and N. S. Bates. Mr. Robinson was elected, receiving four votes, to two for Mr. Bates. The division of the vote was evidently on strict party lines. It was decided to extend the improvement on Front street, between Washington and Harrison, one block, so as to correspond with the improvement on that street north from Washington. Of the additional cost the city is to pay SSO and the property owners the balance. Henry Hilderbrand was given a. saloon license for one year, at the regular $250 rate. The finance committee was instructed to re-insure the engine house. N. H. Warner, E. D. Rhoades and J. F. Warren were re-elected trustees cf Weston cemetery for one year. Claims to the amount of about $2,000 were allowed. Of this sum about $l,lOO was fqr hose and other fire apparatus. It is understood however, that some S2OO or more of this $l,lOO is to come back to the city in the way of a rebate oa the a«B*t Titan S*K aM Smka Yaw MM Mar. To «ult totaoeo eaaily Md forevae.
