The Old Settlers’ Association.
The directors of the Jasper County Old Settter’s Association met at the office of the Secretary, C. E. Mills, last Friday afternoon to perfect the organization and to make arrangements for this year’B meeting. It was agreed that one of the features of this year’s meeting will be an exhibition of old relics of “bygone days” which will give the younger people some idea of the hardships of the early settlers. One of the feature of the exhibition will be a collection of old time implements and utensils, also the products of the c oun ty at the present time. This year's meeting will no doubt be one of the most interesting in the history of the organization. The following additional directors were chosen, David Culp,Hanging Grove township; George Faris, Gilliam; John L. Hersh* man, Walker; W. W. Murray,. Barkley; Frank Welsh. Jordan; Micha Halsted. Newton; Ephraim Sayers, Keener; I. D. Dunn, Kankakee; A. Stimson, Wheatfield; Lew’is S. Alter, Carpenter; Peter A. Foulks, Milroy; Newman Snow,. Union. The following committees were appointed. On Grounds—Simon Phillipa, Shelby Grant and Omar Morlan with power to choose such other assistants as they may need. On Program—Simon P. Thompson, W. R. Nowels and C. E. Mills. On Arrangements Lucius Strong, David Nowels, Jared Benjamin, W. W. Wishard and Lewis S. Alter. On Finance—M. L. Spitler, S. P. Thompson and Lucius Strong. The next meeting of the directors will be held on Friday, July Bth, at the east court room at which time the date of the annual meeting will be fixed.
