Presley Roberts of Mt. Ayr was in the city Monday. T. J. McCoy went to Chicago Tuesday. Floyd Walling of Brook visited here Saturday and Sunday. George WV Goff went to Chicago Saturday. But one regiment is now left at Camp Mount. General Lew Wallace will go to Cuba as n war correspondent for Harpers Weekly. Hon. John J. Ingalls will write a history of the Spanish American War. A. H. Hopkins of Chicago is in the city, He will be here several days. Mr. and Mrs. John Makeever visited relatives in Chicago the first of the week. B. F. Ferguson and C. B. Jones went to Wheatfield last Saturday on a land deal. Judson J. Hunt went to Indianapolis Tuesday. He will be gone several days. Mrs. John Paxton is visiting relatives in .Indianapolis this week. Miss Ura McGowan who has been visiting relativesat Streater 111., returned home Tuesday. Charles Chamberlain and F; B. Meyer went to Chicago on business, Tuesday. Hon. E. B. Sellers of Monticello was in the city Monday looking after legal matters. Judge Thompson returned home Friday from Kentland where he has been holding court.* The first load of madadam was dumped upon McCoy avenue Monday morning—better late than never. Iva Washbum returned Friday from Chicago where she has been studying music and elticution the past winter. Lowell will celebrate on the 4th of July.
