Substitutes for India-Rubber.

Combinations of linseed oil, peanut, rape or mustard oil with sulphur form rubber-Mke substances which are said to be largely nsed In the manufacture of india-rubber compounds. Pure, unvulcanized India-rubber will float, nearly submerged in water, while the old substitutes, being slightly heavier in proportion to their bulk, sink.
