British Soldier's Uniform.

The British soldier has not always worn a red uniform. White was the prevailing color under Henry VIII. and dark-green or russet in the time of Elizabeth. It is a curious fact that the roots and branches of a tree are so alike In their nature that if a tree be uprooted and turned upside down the underground branches will take unto themselves the functions of roots, and the exposed roots will in time bud and become veritable branches.
