Rutterfield & Co., Indianapolin, i deservedly the most popular institution of the kind in the State. Their pianos, melodion, organs, and other instrument are received direct" from the best manufacturers In the United States, and are acknowledged by judges to be the most perfect in tone, style, and teauty of finlhh. "What more can we say, than to you we havo have Haid," except than to request thot-e wishing a crfcct instrument to pureha.se of J. A. Rutterfield Sc Co., 22 Wc-t Washington street, Indianapolis. t Journal. Htr Wat. Oclotr It, llS. Perhaps rom this olwscure cornerfar from railroad.- and turnpikes, and bn-dnes enterprisefar from the noise and bustle of city and town isolated in the rural districts, surrounded by bleating (locks, and lowing herds and crowing chanticleers, it would be pre-1 eumptious to send an article for publi-i cation in a newspaper. But here it goes, unvarnished, from the pen of a rustic into Uncle Sam'a mail-bag tlu nee over hill and vally, through country, town aud village, to the shire town of Randolph, there to Ik; scrutinized by the keen eye of a nwpapcr editor. Having traveled recently over the; county I noticed the onward inarch of improvement in many localities; while in others a kind of lethergy or stupidness prevail. In some localities turnpikes are under waj, and In other places many are opposed to them. It is strange that any land-holder should oppose the buildingof turnpikes, for on the completion of the road all adjacent lands are increased in value fully twenty-five jer cent., besides the J convenience thereby. Why should we stand in our own light, and grasp nnd hord up the almighty dollar, and grope our way through life knee-deep in mud, when by expending a few dollars we might have good roads and lccome a wealthier and happier eople. Nothing improves the appearance of . a country more than good turnpike ronds, and they ay of much more value to farmers than railroads. Let tho people go to work and build good turnpikes to tlie principal railroad joints and not 1e so silly as to try to get a railroad to every village in the county then will be commenced a work of improvement which will make old Randolph one of the first counties in the State.
