In the notice which we give of the death of James Hamilton last week, we did injustice to the friends of the j deceased in saying that a flask of whisky wad found upon his person, which statement we made upon what we deemed good authority. The J) lily Journal says that there will not be more than 3,000 men to be drafted for the old regiments, and i22,OO0 for the Jietr, making in all not more than 20,000 for the State, which will be aJjout JJOO men to a county on an average. Tlie time for volunteering in the new regiments in this State ha been extended to the 1st of September. Advance pay and bounty will be paid volunteers until that time. The Bogus Committeo Repu diatcd-The Cambridge City Convention-What the "Dlsorganizers" will do next. The lo)nl voters of thin District have utterly repudiated the action of the Indianapolis-Rich-moud Committee. Henry Coun ty voted lor a candidate lor Congress direct, and Delaware and Union have since done the same thing. Randolph paid no attention whatever to the instructions of ti self-constituted Committee, and seven towiu-hip? of Wayne repudiated it in like manner. Fayette is left all alone in her

"Ion She can have her own! way now in the Cambridge City Convention. The Committee, we are ?orry(!) to inform our readers, if "about played out." A few of its members, no doubt, meant well, but they were misled, and we doubt very much whether they will ever be caught in such a ''fix" again. Some of the members, we are informed, would not have any thing to do with the proceedings of the Committee alter its first meeting. In the face of this repudiation by the people, will the Cambridge City Convention be held? It wo'd be sheer folly for the "diforganizers" to hold a Convention after having ich unmistakable evidence that the people prefer the popular vote system of nominating, and after Air. Julian has received the nomination of five counties. And if they do hold a delegate Convention, upon what authority will they cast the votes of these Counties? The plain truth is, they have no authority for holding a Convention at all. But if they do not hold one, will they give their support to the people's nominee, or will they as they have charged Julian's friends would do run an "independent" candidate? A portion of thoe who voted against Mr. Julian in Delaware, Henry and Union will pro baMy support him in October; but the "disOrganizers of Wayne, together with & few ol the "discontented" in the other counties, will, doubtless, oppose his re-election to the end. It seems that they are "bound to rule or ruin" will even throw their inllnenre in favor of a svm- ........ . . . . . .. . . , nit Nielli1 ii'ith t rai . r m . trior Hi in i'ui:. Since the above wan put in type, we have read a letter from one of the "disorganize" of Richmond, published in the Daily Journal, in which he says that if the Convention is held, it will resolve it "inexpedient" to nominate a candidate, and that Wm. A. Dickie, "who has consented to this use of his name," will be run independently by the "conservative Union element of the District." Consent!

HORRIBLE STEAMBOAT DISASTER! Seventy-Five Lives Lost! RANDOLPH VOLUNTEERS DROYNED The steamer Acacia, with 150 passengers on board, six of whom were ladies, and a cargo of Butlers goods, ran on a snag sixty miles below Memphis, on the 20th inst., and sunk in a few minutes. Seventy-five of those on board were lost. Lieut. Jesse Way, of the 8th Indiana Volunteers, who left here two weeks ago with recruits tor that regiment, was on board the Acacia and lost two of his men, John Lewis Xctf, ison ol Lewis Nell', Sen., who lives two miles south-east of town on the Winehester and Richmond ro.id, and George Sharp, a married man, who has lived in this place about two years. The loss of these brave men who had volunteered in the lervice of their country will be deeply felt by their many relatives and friends. Hy permission of William W. Smith, Esq., of the Aker House, we copy'the following from a letter received from his son, John H. Smith, who was on board the Acacia at the time she struck: II ku.n a, Ark., 4 Au'. 22. 1HG2 Dkar Mother. I arrived here safely on last evening, but had bad luck on the way, night lefore las-t. I followed the Lieutenant to the shore, but the bank was so sieep that I could not crawl up, so 1 concluded to go back to the wreck and see what 1 conld do for the other hoys. When 1 got near the boat I heard Let White

halloaing. I called Bill Ashvi lie and he answered me. I was determined to stick to the boys to the death. 1 was soon on the boat again, but had not been there more than half an hour until she broke into pieces. About seventy-five of ub got on the bottom of the boat, the pilot house and hulk of the boat broke oil and floated away. Hill Ashvillc, Ike Sharp, Let White and myself staid on the main body ol the boat; there were also two women on the same piece, and a lot ol Irishmen, who were drunk. About 6 o'clock A. M., as we were passing a pi.mtution we called for help and two slaves came to us with a skill". We lirt sTit ahore the women and then the men that could not swim. Our boys were the last to leave the wreck, except the Irish, w'io would not get oil' at all. We had floated about 40 miles. Having reached the hhore, we started for Helena a-foot. We were barefooted, and the sand was so hot that it blistered our feet. We were afraid of bein Cr attacked by (he guerrilla, so we run about Id miles, when we saw a boat going up the river, and was four or live miles, ahead of us. She stopjed to wood, and we caught up with her. We went aboard and they gate us dinner. We soon met a boat going down with Lieut. Way and Frank Puckett on board. We changed boats and came on to this place. John Lewis Nell and (ieorge Sharp were drowned. Your alf't son, John K. Smith, Co. G., 8th Ind. Volunteers. A l mi it intra tor' Sale.
