O-We are authorized to say that Isaac Naylok, esq., is a candidate to represent Montgomery county in the next General Assembly of this state. Q-We have been requested to say that Dr. Thomas M. Currey is a candidate to represent this county in the next legislature of this state.
Oty-The person who borrowed from us the second volume of the 'Cincinnati Mirror,' will please return it. In consequence of high waters, we suppose, no eastern mail arrived here on Tuesday last; and therefore we are destitue of 'fresh news.' A friend has, however, furnished us with the Louisville Advertiser, of the second inst., from which we copy several important(if true)articles, on the subject of the Texas war. The accounts vary, but all seem to agree that an engagement had taken place between the Mexicans and Texians, in which the latter came off victorious. Wre publish the different statements, and let our readers draw their own conclusions as to their correctness.
We understand that a man was found
dead in the prairie, between this place and Lafayette, on Sunday morning last. He was lying in his wagon, when found, with one arm extended towards his 'jug,' the contents of which, no doubt, caused his death. DIED in Philadelphia, on Friday the 1st inst., Wm. G.
