the victors.and the end justifies the means." O ye departed spirits of the fallen Heroes of Tippecanoe, little did you think, in the hour of death, that twenty-four years after your bodies had been confined in your graves, they would be profaned by the unhallowed footsteps of a band of partizans, w ho are usin their utmost exertions to tarnish the well earned fame of HIM, under whose command you bled and died on

his field of honor, and of victory!

Little did you think that these same

mrtizans would, on that hallowed spot,

speak, write, and publish falsehoods to de-

amc the characters of those who stood by

you in that hour, when you poured out

your life's blood in defence of your country against her savacrc foe.

Who is this Mr. B? Ans. He is the

same infamous printer, who tried to cheat

the State of Indiana out of a large sum of

money, by charging for services which he never rendered, and was detected in this villainous attempt by William Sheets

Esq., Secretary of State.

A bad cause cannot succeed by the em

ployment of such vile instruments of falsehood; a good cause needs not the employment of such. A SPECTATOR

U will be recollected, this afternoon , at t wo

o'clock, is the time appointed for the meeting of the friends of general Harrison, at the

court house, to appoint delegates toastite convention, for the purpose of forming an

electoral ticket, and making the necessary arransrements to obtam a fair vote: a general at-

C3 tendance is desirable.

The proceedings at the Tippecanoe eel

bration, and the interesting oration of doctor

For die Crairfordsville Record EC NOM CELEBRATION.

Mr. Editor

Having seen a publication in

q Indiana Democrat of the lllhinst.pur

porting to be an extract of a letter from

one of the editors of that paper, dated La

fa vette, Saturday night, 7th of Nov. 1035

in which the writer professes to state fact

in relation to the celebration of the 2 '4th anniversary of the Battle of Tippecanoe;

and being an eye witness of the transactions of that day, the writer of this com

munication is constrained, by a love ot truth, to contradict, through the medium of your paper, iiw gross deliberate falsehoods contained in that extract. This Editor, the infamous and notorious Bolton, after disgorging himself of a large quantity of malicious calumny against one of the surviving soldiers of the kittle of Tippecanoe, and one of the humble defenders of the character of the Hero of Tippecanoe and the Thames, knowingly and wilfully makes this false statement: viz. "Thus have the Harrisonites been defeat

ed on the very battle ground of Tippeca

noe." Now Mr-. B. know s this statement to be

us false as he is base and contemptible.

Yes, he knows that it can be proved to be

false, by at least a thousand witnesses,

who were present, and voted for the ad

option of the resolution, nominating Gen Harrison as a candidate for the presiden

cv. Yes, he knows that this statement

can be proved to be false, by "at least fifty of those who rallied around the Van Bu-

rcn and Johnson flag. Out of one hundred and fifty Van Burcnites, it is to be presumed, in charity, that at least one third

will tell the truth that this number have

"not bowed the knee to Baal."

About one hundred, or one hundred and

fifty persons marched from the stand when

the vote was taken, under this tlag, to a

-part of the battle ground, near to the sacred spot, where are deposited the mortal remains of the illustrious dead,of Daviess, of Spencer, of Warrick, of Owen, of Ran

dolph, of Bean, of Berry, and ot many
