the festivities usual upon Mich occaiioiH. "With rods and lines and bate in store" an attack was fir.st ma !e upon the "finnv tribe" and that with considerable fc'ieir. Thus pascd the time pleasantly until there was an inward demand for something more sub--tntnial. 'J hi- brought about dinner, of which an abundance had been provided ' y thchtdicri. A beoutiful mound in the grove was resoited to and ample justice was done to the choice luxuries that had been so nicely prepared. After fi nding an hour in adiuiui-ter-

ing to the wants of the iniitr-rnan, and in lively tcpaiteo. c fioral enterprise was undertaken whbdt resu't-jd in a dvaant ramble through the beautiful woods. X;.merous (lovcrn Wcie gath':ed and bouquets without Iitrinl er weic tastefully arranged and exchanged as kindly greetings. Various other amusements usual upon fcMcU occasion were enjoyed by the company; and not tho leat of thetn was a spicy speech from I). J. IIn.ston', K-i. Next followed singing, in which the sweet singers of the grove joined, and we arc half way inclined to award them lhj premium. Wo believe our jovial company were all in favor of thj "temperance Meiety," but it has become so fushivnulle to diink that wc could not entirely claim exemption. Hard by was a spring of pore, sparkling water, offering to thir.-ty mortals tha clearest

and most healthy beverage. Without "liccn-e" wc freely partook of this lest gift to man, and felt that in its limpid stream were no traces of Ror.ow and anguish. The day was a bright on tlu company a happy one. The enjoyments of the occasion were unsurpassed; we trust they may long be pi easantlv remembered.

" 1??" Solomon JSttiig.)s, who at one tiin? owned quite a larger quantity of land in this county, and docs yet for aught wa know, has advertised quite a number of farnn for sale, in the Zanesville, Ohio, Courier. From the reading of thj advertisement, one might be led to think that h? was repenting of thi? wickedness of land monopoly; oi else what is more likely, that he has ventured on some large speculation and is hard up for tnonev. We hope however that he is in earnest. Read what he says : "I have soma ciglit or ten .fir.o improved farm in Indiana, and on5 IjiO acres near Oalena, Illinois, that 1 wish to cll.
