THE MJWnUT. Sews About Home.
Kcd-hot the Weather. Circuit Court L ia session positively, without reserve. New wheat is coming in town fieely, and is of excellent quality. We are under obligations to Sigmund Mayer, Esq., fur a late Kentucky paper. John C Brioüs, Esq., is lying seriously ill of a fever at his father's residence, in this place. Brick Pomeroy, of the New York Dtmocrat, passed through this place one day last week. Tue C. C. k L. railwav will in a fdiort time commence track. fencing their Merrill Williams, of Argos. raised, the present season, S04 bushels Springdale wheat, on thirty acres of ground. Travel on the P. F. W. & C. R. W. has of late been so heavy that the eatiog house at this place has been running to its full capacity. There is a mark-id increase in the travel on the different railroads, which bespeaks an early opening of fall trade. The citizens of Plymouth and vic'nity are to be enlivened by the ap pearance of Prot. Clarinda's Musical Troupe, on to-morrow evening, at Balcony Hall. Go and hear them. Pkrsonai.. Within the past week we have noticed three familiar faces. said faces belonging to George K. Brings, James W. Logan and George B Lindsay, the two former hail from Michigan, the latte- "rora Iowa, Last Tuesday we saw a monster log wagon, manufactured by Samuel Smallwood, of this place. IM tires Were six inches broad, and the other! dimensions were in the tion. same proporA rn-Nic party. mo3tly Sunday School scholars from LaPorte, passed through this place yesterday, on C. C. & It, train, for Rochester. They numbered about seven hundred. We believe it is the intention of the Episcopal Sunday School of Plymouth to make an excursion to (he same place next week. Mrs. Tim. a WoODBUEl and Miss Sau ii PiERfE will give a pic-nic lo the scholars of their classes in tli 3 undny School, at Pretty Lake, to-day. The children1 capacity for eujyment will be tested to the utmost. The citizens in the vicinity of Corhaley's Cross-roodi, five miles south of Plymouth, propose to secure a sidetrack and flag station, on the C. C. Si. I. R. R, at that place, if it can be done. We learn that the railway will comply with the wishes of the people on reasonable terms. This would be a great convenience to the residents thereabout, and of pecuniary advantage to the railway company. Wc I pe to see thz flag station secured. The Demccrut still keeps up its tirade of abuse against the corporate authorities Republirnn. We give the "corporate authorities" credit for doing oue charitable deed, and that is, in not enforcing the ordinance prohibiting asses from running at large within the corporate limits of Plymouth. Had this ordinance been enforced the Republican would be minus editors and proprietors. We now ecc why that paper enthusiastically remarks that "our worthy marshal fills " his office admirably", its editors were under obligations to him for their liberty and the pursuit of happiness" within the corporate limits. See it? ScbPEN Death. A singular aud ead occurrence took place at the village of Troy, in Whitley county, last Sunday. Rev. Mr. Harker, of Larwell. formerly of Lafayette, was preaching at the Presbyterian Church on the ' Death of Man." He had got about half through his sermon, when he suddenly stopped and tuld the congregation that he felt a kind of choking sensation, and must rest a few minu'es. He commenced gasping immediately, and. though every attention was shown him, died in a very short time, it is supposed that apoplexy caused his death. Ntn-thfy n'J,diani.n n . R v. Mr. Harker was the stationed minister of the M. K. Church, at this place, some twelve years ago, and his death will be sincerly mourned by many of our citizens, .who can testify i luuoegf; ot heart and the richtness of hi ttfc wlJeil Lere upnrr III . A correspondent in the Republican, who speaks as one having authorI ity. informs the public that the corpo- ' ration board, at its nightly conclaves,
is endeavoring to find the wav to settle a large debt with only 7 cents in the treasury, and that as the board has not Y3t discovered the way, the nightly meetings will probably continue. The first act of the board towards dimininishing the debt was to raise the fees of each member of the board from 31.50 10 18,00 per night ! This style of extinguishing a debt will come into general use so soon as people are thoroughly conversant with its merits. MARRIED. By the Ilcv, J. Schlosser, on the 10th J inst., at the Reformed Parsonage, in Plymouth, Mr. Henry Roma and Miss Sarau J. Crumley, both of Union Township. BUSINESS LOCALS. Croquet The editor of the Republican seems to think the 11 Croquet Club " of vouDg ladies and school girls, who play in the Court House Squere is too "exclusive."
