We published, a short time since, a very caoded and honest letter from Captaia Blake, ot Goshen, Elkhart county a life-1 Ung Republican in which that gentleman cave most potent reasons ftr leavits the! rotten and corrupt hulk of radicalism, and joining the great Democratic a.iny fighting with the ballot for one Union, on God, and one currency. Wo were glad to welcome Mr. Blake to our arty, for his wol' known integrity of character, as well as his eminent lcul attainments, enable him to wield a powerful influence in the Tenth Congressional District, and indeed all through the north part of the State, by means of which many of the "devoted followers of stracge gods" have bee and are being redeemed, a id will help to swell the majority which eur noble "Hoosier 8tate" will give to the friends of the poor man in tho coming election.?. Since we hadhe pleasure of welcoming Mr. Blake as a member of the great Scy - . ., . . . , J ir nnii umir tirinv n v "rurv wp nav J " ior our own satisfaction ma le some calcu lations, which we now present for the inefit of our rc-aders. and ak the Jonmnl man to ' crack," f'jr the consolation of what few radicals lie ha left in his corrupt, bondholding party. We can vouch for the substantia! acouracy of our figures: Wl have a pub ic debt, in bonds held by the capitalists of tho country, of about 1,500,000,000, on which we pay a yearly interest of $150,000,000, in gold, or near.y $210,000,000, in the soldier's and poor lan's money. Now, this interest, being nce paid, never comes back to the poortr "plc, for it goes directly into the hands )f tho bondholders, no one of whom has my sympathy for the laboring masses of ibe country; and so far aa the people arc concerned, it is then the same aa though on compound interest. Making our calculations from this basin, re find that wc poor men will have paid these bondholders, in tho short period i six. years, 81,040,207,780 as interest onan amount nearly equal to one-half of 11 their bonds, and yet tbc bond debt will ic just as large aa now. What do you liink of that, laboring men? During the ext six years, if radical rule is continued, pu will pay, as interest, to your friends, ie radical bondholders, 8 13, 197,780 more tan the value of all the flour, meal, cotton id woolen goods, lumber, boots and shoes, ather, sugar, clothing, machinery, prining, iron, liquor, paper, furniture, soap nd candles, and agricultural implements lanufactured and produced in 18G0, in jhe whole of the United States, and on top If that you will have paid the taxes of tese same bondholders! And yet you rill be bound down by party ties, and lindly vote away your substance in again tvoring radical rule, and such a policy. Let us follow up the matter a little fur-' tier, in iweive years, iir. armer, you t . l r id your brother sons of toil, will have lid to the supporters of Mr. Grant for lember the bondholders are Grant's kin and only hope, since no poor ma in tttord to SUPDOl t tllDl -...o'..4.j i A) ib 4 w r w JUUiHUftu tUil Uni! a snui' little-1

W AM Grant in luxury, while you toil and sweat to pay your taxes, and theirs too You can now see why it 13 that the rich man and the bondholder supports Grant. It is because he gets his iuterest on his money, and makes you pay his taxes for hira, Compare the last sum with the principal, and you will find that you have paid the bondholders thirty millions of dollars more than you owed them at first, and yet will be as deep in bebt as when you began to give them your hard earned substance. Then go with us to your statistics, and you farmers will discover that twelve years' interest, which these Grant men waut you to pay them, is $400,000,000 more than the cash value, in 18G0, of all the real estate and personal property in the great State of Indiana! Can you st'll afford to vote or Grant ? Here is an honest, upright mechanic, industriously laboring at his bench, and endeavoring, besides earning an honest living, to lay up a small pittance "against a rainy day." Do you ever think, good man, while you are thus toiling, how much Grant's bondholding supporters are taking out of your hard earnings? If you have not done so already, just lay down your plane a moment, and cast up the amount of the interest you and the lest of the poor men of the National are paying to Grant's money sharks, and you will lind that, in twenty years, you will have paid them, besides paying their taxes for them, 85,517,753,350 interest as a bonu3 for holding your notes, and yet not a dollar of your note3 will be paid. Then take down the census report, and you will find that these "loyal bondholders" have taken out of your hard earnings five times the cash value of all the livestock which the United States and Territories possessed, in 18G0, and 6400,000,000 more than the total value of , all kinds of personal property owned in this country at that time, and yetyouhave not paid them one eenfc of their bond.-! How much longer can you or any other poor man afford to'support such a policy of financial ruin and bankruptcy of our whele people? Do you not see a strong icason right here for your doing as Mr. xn . -i iÄ .i , , r ülake has done-come into the only ark of j safety for the Nation, the great Democrat ic party, whose watchword is Seymour, Blair, and equal taxation? Now, Mr. Soldier, we have a word for you. You fought bravely for the union and defended the flag. The government promised you gold, but paid you off in i r J , ... . , , greenbacks, and, like all patriots and dem- j oerats. von wer sarUfirrl. linf. tho hmA - . . m holder paid for hi3 bonds in greenbacks. and now demands gold for them, claiming that "is greenbacks were better than your bloo'J- X'ou are Mpig pay the inter est on these bonds; and, although you fought in the field, and saw yur dear comrades fall around you while battling againet secession, and perhaps may have lost a limb yoursolf, yet you arc taxed like the devil while the bondholder goes Seott free! You have no bonds, for you are too poor to own any. You arc young, and, we hope, may live fifty pears yet. If you do, under the radical Grant policy of postponing the payment of the public debt, you and your fellow soldiers, and the laboring men, will in forty-years, pay to the bondholders the enormous sum of '31,021,220,953 as interest j aad at the end of fifty ! yeai? you will have paid them not one cent less than forty-'ive thousand millions of ; , ,. . A. ' , ' , dollarn, or nearly twentv times the whole ! ftniminf nf flioir Knnrlj nrw tliaii. tovou amount of their bond Leides, and yet will owe t icm jut as much as we do now, for you will only have paid the interest. Think of this, soldier. This sum which Graut would have you pay theso cormorants a? intqrest, is nearly three times the value of all the property of every kind, character and description owned by every man.woman and child in the United States in 1S(0! Can you support such a policy longer, or will you, like C:iptain Blake, abandon the old radical hulk, and like an honest man and patriot, do what you can to relieve the poor men of the country., by the election of Seymour and Blair ?
