The donation for the beccfit of llov. Mr. Timmons on Thursday evening, was quite numerously attended. Thc total amount donated was 112, one half of which was given by persons not connected with any church. A vote was taken during thc evening requesting Mr. Timmons to remain here another year. He. will be glad to do so, and the conference will no doubt grant the request. Mr. Timmons has endeared himself to thc people of this place by his efforts to conciliate true friendship among those who might otherwise have remained at a perpetual distance. He preaches the gospel as he understands it, allowing those who differ with him thc privilege of entertaining their own particular views without abusing them for opinion's sake. He is a gentleman ot liberal views, whose social qualities have made him hosts of friends in this community, and will continue to make him a general favorite so long as he shall remain with US. There is no class of people that enjoy life so well as the Geilnaus. To be happy and to make every one happy with whom they come in contact seems to be the grand aim they have in view. They seldom go to law with ouc another, or have any trouble or difficulty with any one. They arc, as a class, industrious, economical, and as a natural consequence I generally, well to do in the world. They pay their taxes aud all demands made against them with a promptness aud a willingness which every one would do well to imitate. Just north of us, only a few miles, is one of the richest sections of country in Northern Indiana certainly in Marshall country. The inhabitants arc nearly ail Germans, and alth ugh it has been but a few years since the name of German Township was given to it, thc inhabitants thereof are almost " out of the wilderness." Large and well cultivated farms, commodious farm-houses and barns arc now everywhere to be seen where only a short time ago tho red man of the forest held undisputed sway. Bremen thc scat of iustice of German township ... ... . . . 1 IS a mriviuir village, wuose population is I mm mW a a mostly of German extraction Thov know 1 J liey kllOW ; I JnOle Win. i how to enjoy thcmsolvcs, and Unci ilnrrison and others of our citizens who were over there not long ago, are of the opinion that thc people have organised themselves into a M committee of the whole " for thc purpose of making their fiieuds feel perfectly at home while amongst them. And it is no wonder they ao well succeed in accomplishing their purpose. Such men as Jonas Miller, John Soice, Jacob Knoblock, and a host of oth er equally good fellows seldom undertake anything to make lifo euj oy iblc with being successful. They have a " glee club " over there, and we suspect Jonas Miller and Iiis '; musical children " have a Innre share in it. They also have a brass baud which was organized a number of years ago. Wc contemplate making a visit to the village of 1. reinen one of these days, when we shall make a note of what wc see and hear, thc improvements that have been made there in the past few years, its future prospects. &c. The route we intend to take is over the plank road from here, or if it is not completed when we get ready to go, then by rail road to riymouth, aud thence by steamboat up Yellow river to the wharf at Bremen ! Won't that bo nice ? A mcctinjr of the democrats of Bourbon j township is called lor Friday evening, at Davis' hall, to trausact such business as may be deemed for thc interest of thc tyOhas. Miller, a young fellow who flourished thc tousorial blade here a short time, made his absence visible not long since by quietly going away between two days, lie leaves aboard bill, a rout bill, and a saloon bill in all amounting to forty or Gfty dollars unpaid. J. E. Houghton & Co. are about putting up-a building on the cast side ol the street Iroui where they now are.
