A Political Chans.
A very highly esteemed radical judge of
Ontario county was recently united in matrimony. He wed a very respectable and highly accomplished lady of democratic principles, residing in the same county. lie went to pass the first night at a hotel in Canandagua. The lady was duly conducted to the bridal chamber by
the maids. After a proper length 0f
time had elapsed, the worthy judge aseooded to the chamber and found the door locked. JTe rapped for admittance, when the following dialogue ensued : Judge i4I desire admittance." Wife "You cannot come in here until you change your politics." Jvulge "I cannot do that." Vftfe "Well, you cannot come in then." The judge then decended, remained below about an hour, waiting for his wife to repent and revoke her cruel decision. He then returned and rapped. Judge "Will you now admit me 7 " Wife 1 'Have you changed your views yet?" Judge "No' Wife "I cannot admit you then." Judge "My dear wife this is asking too much." Wif$ "I have no other terms to offer." Judge "You cannot be so cruel'" He received no answer to this. After waiting a short time he again descended, remaining below another hour, in a disturbed state of mind. At last he again ascended and rapped desperately at the door. There was a slight sound within. Judge "Will you admit me ? " Wife "You know my terms. Have
you changed r Judge "Yes, I now come to you a stiff copperhead."
The door opened, the judge vanished, the curtain falls, and New York has genu

The American Cooking: Stove After twsnty years' experience In the manufacture of stoves, we becam convinced, som six years since that a vast amonnt of money was being expended by the people of this country in buying cheap and almost worthless stoves, alarue portion of whicn was wasted and that true economy consisted inbuyiu the best stoves that could be marie, notwithstanding the price was hi eher. With this view, we proceeded to construct the 4sasrtSBi ot,knq Abas, and -pared no pains or expense to make it the liest and most perfect stove that could be mad.'. And we have experimented with it and carefully watched its operations for the !at six yar, and whn an impr m nt suggested it-.-lf. wn have at onc adopted it. ,n w have s. v ral of thes senred by letters patent. In this manner, we no not hesitate to say. ws have brought It to a higher state of p.Tfe-tion than has heretofore been attained in cooking stoves The recent improvements In this stove hasadded largely to its convenience and effertiren s In all the varieties of stoves we manufacture, we .tudv usefulness, durability, convenience and economy In operaion, father than cheapness in price, and in so doing we are satisfied we study the Interest of those purchasing onr stoves.
