The consequence is that larmers arc looking nivic hopeful. The wheat was sutlering for want of rain, and much oi iJiat which had been sown for weeks had not appeared above ground. The bridge across Yellow River in the cast part of town, on Gano St., has long since been condemned as unsafe by the authorities ; yet we see teams crossing it almost daily. If the bridge is left in the condition in which it now stands, we shall in all probability have an accident to record in that locality before many days. The Pakkeii House. A number of prominent Republicans of this county nfe putting their heads together since the election to devise means for the establishment ofa Republican paper in this place, provided the editor of the radical organ does not evacuate the chair editorial, and give place to a man poscsscd of more political virtue. The Republicans have been rcrv much dissatisfied with the course pursued by their organ, fcr a long time, and have publicly denounced the editor as a curse to the party, and attrib utc their overwhelming defeat at the elec tion on Tuesday to the Republican news paper more than to any other cause. The establishment of another radical paper in this county would result in the death ol either one or the other of the piebald concerns, and our rieighbor across the way would hardly consent to give up the fielo to his tfaducers before he had exhausted at lcr.st a considerable pcrtijn of his suplilies. Wo fchall see wl'.t the new radical egg will bring forth. The progress of reconstruction in the south shows that the reconstructed Slates will le completely ruled by negfocs fttnl a few radical whites who have taken up their abode there in order to be elected to office. EUROPE. Florence, Oct. 7. Reports hourh received here from the south fdiow tha: thj revolutionary volunteers arc invading Uoman territory on all sides. Yesterday a detachment of trocps wa.sent out from Piome to meet the invader? in Frosmonc, a province lying southeast of the city. Deputations are arriving here, and memorials are pouring in from all parts of the kingdom, demand ing that Home be made the capital ot Italy. The following faets relative to the coming trial of Jell". Davis aro from the best authority : The trial is set for the 1th Monday m Novcin bcr, and as the (Jovcrnincnt will not inter lere there will be no postponement by counsel on either hide. The oflencc of levying war against the United States will be testified to by Judge Scarborough, of Norfolk, Hon. Jim. (Jood, member of the Confederate Cotmress, and Capt. lfendven who were compelled to appear before the 2"orfolk grand jury and testify to faets upon which the indictment wis made. There will bo very few, if any, witnesses for the (lefenee, the fact of levying war being admitted. The prosecution will then proceed with the argument that the prisoner is guilty of treason. Counsel for defence will argue that he, being a citizen of the State, under its laws, a prior allegiance was due to it. and not to the Unite i States. It lias been positively asserted that Judgo Chase would preside, but as the Supreme Court commences its session
on the first Monday in December, this is not Jios'Sibld. The trial is expected to last
